Sorry for the late posting. We went over to Quattros to see what to do about tonight's cruise. It has been decided that, even though the sun is now shining, the roads, grass and parking lot would be too wet for a good show. We have therefore cancelled tonight's cruise.

Its too bad the rain came in at 5:00 just when everyone would be coming to the show.

I have been busy working on our renovated website. Have you checked out our new look? I have updated our website from the one I created many many years ago. The new one should fill your modern computer screens. I am trying to make it as easy to navigate as I can. I hope you like it. I know, the pictures are not up yet and the articles have been taken down, but I am working on it. It takes a lot of work to completely change a website. All of our pictures and articles will be up again soon. I wanted to get all of this season's activities up and running for everyone. Friday Night Lomotion Cruise/Halloween Party

Hi everyone,

John has announced that he has cancelled the cruise for this Friday, October 15th.

We will, however, have our annual Halloween Cruise and Party on Saturday, October 23rd at Lomotion on Route 44, Poughkeepsie, NY. So, get your costumes and car decorations ready. I am excited to see what everyone has come up with for this year's party. The time will be announced in the next few days as we are finalizing the plans for the event.

We held out as long as we could to see whether the storm would clear out for us. However, it is still raining. We have cancelled the dyno for tonight and are going to POSTPONE the cruise night to October 15th.

Just wanted to let you know that we will not be having a cruise at Pete's Cafe and Grill on Wednesday 9/8/10 due to the fact that we will be at the Adirondack Nationals Car Show this week. We will resume the cruise the following week.

Lomotion Cruise Night

We just received a call from John at Lomotion. He has decided to cancel the cruise for tonight. It is raining at his shop and at my house as well. It doesn't look like a great night and most of you will not be taking your "babies" out with a threat of rain anyway. We are sorry for the late notice, but we were hoping that the rain would not spoil the evening. Don't forget, we will have another cruise at Lomotion on the first friday of October. We will see you then.

Also, please note that there will not be a cruise at Pete's Cafe this Wednesday due to the fact that we will be at the Adirondack Nationals with our GTO. Yeahhhh!!

Lomotion/DARE Car Show

We had a great turnout for the Lomotion/Town of Poughkeepsie DARE car show today. Everyone did a great job getting the cars parked quickly. Many thanks to Alisa, Ray and Dan for their assistance with the parking and gate and for their time today. Thanks to them, the process was very smooth.

The music was great, the show cars were spectacular and John and Carolyn from Lomotion were great sponsors. Carolyn put out a lot of her time to collect prizes from the local businesses for the Chinese auction and package gift baskets for the tables. They were beautiful.

DJ Donna kept to her timeline and we were able to complete the Chinese auction, award 50 trophies and a memorial trophy (in memory of Jennifer Marie "Niffie" DeVito) within a one hour time frame and the show ended promptly at 3:10 pm.

The Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department ended the show with a quick exit for the cars as they had shut down Route 44 to empty the Lomotion lot. All of the show car owners cooperated and joined in an exit cruise. It was great to see all the wonderful cars and trucks leave the event all at once with no delays and traffic jams. Most of all, many many thanks to the car owners for coming to the event and making it the success that it was.

The DARE program received a large portion of its needed budget from this event and the kids will surely benefit from that. Thanks again everyone!

It is 5:30 AM Sunday, August 22nd and its raining. Checking the weather forecasts on the internet and weather channel, they are predicting 90% chance of rain and thunderstorms for the entire day. We have decided that it would be best to postpone the show until next Sunday, August 29th. We hope that everyone will be able to join us then. The DARE program needs our support as it is only funded by donations from the public.

The weather for Wednesday nights has just not been cooperating with us!! They are predicting thunder storms for tonight and we will have to cancel the cruise at Pete's, once AGAIN.

We hope that everyone will join us for the Hyde Park Car Show and Street Fair on Sunday, July 18th. All proceeds benefit the Hyde Park Chamber of Commerce. The Pony Tails will be playing part of the day, so that should be fun. See everyone then.

Technical Difficulties

I was unable to post last week's Wednesday night cancellation due to technical difficulties. Blogger changed their formatting and I had to transfer lightning rod's blog to a different URL (web address). Our website did not connect to the new URL because I had to change a link. Well to make a long story short, I had to fix these problems and now we are working again.

It looks like we will have some rain in the morning tomorrow. But, we are hopeful that our first cruise night at Pete's will be held. Stay tuned for any cancellations and I promise they will be posted if we need to cancel.

New Car Cruise at Pete's Famous Cafe Grill

Greetings everyone. As our home page has indicated, we are sorry to advise that we will no longer be hosting our car cruise at the Arlington Diner this year. However, we have arranged for a new location at Pete's Famous Cafe Grill on Wednesday nights.

We are scheduled to have a cruise tonight. However, today's weather is not looking very promising. There is a very good chance that we will cancel the cruise for this evening. Check back in a couple of hours to be sure. Thanks to all who came to LoMotion's cruise night last Friday. It was great to get out and see everyone after such a long winter.

The weatherman has predicted that we are supposed to get thunder storms on Saturday, October 24th (of course the day of our show :( ). I just checked with weather.com and they are saying 100% chance.

McDonald Highland Cruist Night Discontinued

Greetings everyone!

Lightning Rod ProMotions regrets to inform our friends that the McDonalds, Highland, New York cruise night has been discontinued for the 2009 season. The owner of McDonalds and LRP have mutually agreed that, due to the many cruise nights that have emerged, it does not benefit the car community or the hosts of such cruise nights to have so many scheduled for the same night. The owner of McDonalds at Highland has been a gracious host for more than 20 years and LRP is glad to have been able to "carry the torch" for the last three years. It is sad that such a long standing cruise night is being discontinued and we thank McDonalds for its support for the car enthusiast hobby. For those of you who are upset about loosing this great car cruise location and don't want to travel long distances to other cruises, we have been given permission to have informal gatherings at The Arlington Diner just across the bridge in Poughkeepsie on Route 44 on Friday nights, starting May 8th. We will be able to use the grassy area to the left of the diner as we do on our Monday night cruises.

LRP will be continuing our Monday night cruises starting May 4th, at the Arlington Diner at 6:00 pm, as usual with prizes and awards, weather permitting. So please feel free to gather at the diner on Friday evenings and, of course, join us for our Monday night cruises there!

2008 Halloween Party and Car Cruise

LRP Annual Halloween Party and Car Cruise

The flyer is up on our website for this year's annual Halloween Party and Car Cruise. It will be held at the Arlington Diner, Route 44, Poughkeepsie, NY at 4:00 pm on Saturday, October 25th. The rain date will be the next day, Sunday, October 26th. Cancellations will be posted here.

This year's event is a benefit for the Mid-Hudson Valley Food Bank (known as The Community Action Partnership of Dutchess County). We will collect any non-perishable food items at the event or at Starbucks on Route 44 next to Arlington Wines and Liquors, Electric Mayhem Tattoos at Overocker Road and The Arlington Diner, Route 44, Poughkeepsie, New York. Cash or check donations will also be accepted. All proceeds of our Halloween Party and Car Cruise will be donated to the charity.

The support of all our friends and the car community will make this charity event a success. We hope to see everyone dressed in their best costumes that day. Every year we are surprised to see the creative costumes and car decorations that you all come up with. We are looking forward to this event and we have many many prizes for you all to have a chance to win.

New Season Starts!

I just wanted to let everyone know how much I enjoyed getting out last weekend and speaking with all of my car buff friends after such a long winter. Even though the weather last Friday was not great, we had a good time with the few who did show up. It was cold and nasty but you die hards, and you know who you are, are appreciated. We love you!
We had a really nice turn out of cars at Monday’s Arlington cruise and we hope that this location will continue to grow. The owner of the diner is working with us and providing excellent prizes. There are plans to have a separate menu and waitresses for you so that you can eat right at your car if you want to. We hope that this works out for you. If you haven’t noticed, the owner has changed his decor to a retro car related theme. Keep watching for further changes at Arlington!

Cruise Nights Begin

Well, its that time of year that we all look forward to.. Spring! Yea! Start up those engines and lets get cruisin! Tonight is our first cruise night at McDonalds in Highland, New York and this weekend is the big "Dust Off" show at Rhinebeck Fair Grounds. Although the weather doesn't promise to be good for us tonight or for Saturday's event, we are happy that the season is once again upon us. Stay tooned for any cancellations for our cruise. If we don't see you in Highland tonight, we will see you at the "Dust Off."

Server Trouble

Just wanted to let everyone know that I had a little server trouble this weekend. Fortunately, the cancellation for the car show notice was up and running on Saturday when it was important. My server transferred the website to another server on Saturday night (without letting me know about it) and the previous website was appearing on Sunday without the cancellation notice. I went nuts trying to figure out what went wrong.. wasn't me though. We shouldn't have any more problems with updates, I hope! Cheryl

OK Guys, we know, we know, the sun is shining and the sky is blue.. The weather man just can't be trusted. I think we could do a better job just looking up! Anyhow, feel free to join in with your comments. Looking forward to next Friday night and Saturday's show. All our vendors will be joining us including Chassis Dyno, so we won't be missing anything at our show. Cheryl

Since our car show at the Beacon High School has been cancelled today, I took some time to create this web blog. Hopefully, next saturday will be a better day for us and we will see all of your great rides then! Until then, I will figure out how this blog works. Cheryl
